Guafo Island Museums school, winning initiatic innovation projects



LECMAA initiative by the Institute of Zoology, in conjunction with the Institute of Marine Biology of the Universidad Austral de Chile, was one of the projects selected in the competition for competitive innovation and outreach Innovation, driven by the Regional Government of Rivers and organized by the Regional Production Development Agency (ARDP) Rivers.

The project, which is called "Museums School: learning with our senses to preserve our biodiversity. A merger between culture, nature, distribution and tourism" , aims
produce educational materials, posters and stickers on species that inhabit our coast and representing the biodiversity of southern Chile. Similarly, biological collections is to form and set them on a network of school museums in the region, considering that these have become an important cultural and scientific heritage for society, as well as witnesses of biodiversity. The biological material collected at our expense and armed students and university professors and advised by museum curators, taxidermists, academics and scientists, along with educational materials produced, used to create a route network of museums and established school in our province and open to the entire community (national and international) widely supported by the Institute of Zoology and Extension Department of the Universidad Austral de Chile, a union that will raise awareness of biodiversity in southern Chile.

The Coastal School Museum Network, not only be built in a place of interest for science, education and local tourism, but will also be regional and national interest. The partnership between public and private institutions, academics, scientists, academics, teachers and students will develop strong bonds that help to enhance cultural and valued in our region, making this an example to be imitated nationwide.
